Glenn Waddell

General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

As general counsel, head of enterprise risk, and chief compliance officer, Glenn holds executive-level oversight for all EverSource legal matters. He develops strategic plans, implements and administers policies, and acts as liaison with regulatory authorities.

Before joining EverSource, Glenn was president of Birmingham Theological Seminary for 11 years. Prior to his time at BTS, he practiced law for more than 15 years with two leading Alabama law firms and served as the regional director for Peacemaker Ministries. Glenn practiced general business law, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution as a member of Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff and Brandt, LLC.  As a partner with Balch & Bingham LLP he focused on environmental law, public policy, and governmental affairs. Glenn’s law practice has also involved regulatory work in the securities industry related to establishment and compliance of broker-dealers, insurance agencies, and registered investment advisory firms.

Glenn has taught courses as an adjunct professor at the Cumberland School of Law and the Handong International Law School, and has been published in Alabama LawyerCumberland Law Review, and Alabama Law Review. He has served as general counsel for The King’s Home and as a certified Christian conciliator for the Institute for Christian Conciliation.  While a student at the University of Alabama School of Law, Glenn was selected as a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review.

Glenn is a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church in America and has served as moderator for Evangel Presbytery. Residents of the Birmingham area for more than 30 years, Glenn and his wife Mary Ann, are parents of four children.  Glenn aspires to be an ultra-marathoner, but generally only makes about three miles.  On the positive side, that leaves him enough time to enjoy another biography or a game with his family.
